Motorcycle Lessons in Upper Hutt

If you are thinking of getting your motorcycle licence at Bikerbasics, Upper Hutt we provide:

Bikerbasics is run by local Upper Hutt owner/operator Leigh Elliott; an NZTA approved Motorcycle instructor, basic handling skills and CBTA assessor.


LESSONS AND ASSESSMENT

LEARNERS

We run learner motorcycle courses on Saturday mornings at the St Joseph's School tennis courts on Royal Street, Upper Hutt (opposite Pak n' Save). You can see a map of it here.

» Learn to Ride: $120

A two hour course suitable for someone who has never ridden a motorcycle before and wants to learn from the beginning without the stress of a test. Please e-mail or phone to book.

» Basic Handling Skills Test Course: $160

Suitable for those who can already ride a motorcycle (i.e. reasonably confident with the clutch and gears). The course is made up of warm-up exercises and instruction followed by test practice and the test itself. Includes motorcycle hire (Suzuki GN125) with helmet and gloves provided.

Starts at either 9am or 10.45am, Saturday (depending on bookings).

If you bring your own LAMS approved motorcycle, it is only $120. Please e-mail or phone to book.

» Learn to Ride plus Basic Handling Skills Test Course: $240

Suitable for someone who has never ridden a motorcycle before yet wants to progress to gaining their basic handling skills certificate all in one session. Includes motorcycle hire (Suzuki GN125) with helmet and gloves provided. Gives all the basics to get riding plus everything needed to be successful in the test.

Starts at 9am, Saturday.

If you bring your own LAMS approved motorcycle it is only $180. Please e-mail or phone to book.

RESTRICTED & FULL LICENCE

» CBTA Restricted Training Course: $120

A one-on-one on road course for L-plate riders preparing for the NZTA approved CBTA Restricted (6R) Assessment. Not compulsory before attempting the CBTA (6R) Assessment but strongly recommended.

This course gives you all the information you need to be successful in that assessment. Takes approximately 2-3 hours. Please e-mail or phone to arrange a convenient time.

» CBTA Restricted (6R) Assessment: $160

The NZTA approved practical assessment to gain your Restricted Licence. 50-60 minutes of ride time but allow approximately two hours. Please e-mail or phone to arrange a convenient time.

N.B. The CBTA Restricted Training Course and CBTA Restricted (6R) Assessment are conducted as separate sessions, on separate days, to allow time to practise what has been learned from the training before attempting the assessment.

» CBTA Full Licence Training Course: $100

A one-on-one on road course for restricted licence riders preparing for the NZTA approved CBTA Full Licence Assessment. Not compulsory before attempting the CBTA (6F) Assessment but strongly recommended. This course gives you all the information you need to be successful in that assessment. Takes approximately 2 hours. Please e-mail or phone to arrange a convenient time.

» CBTA Full Licence (6F) Assessment: $120

The NZTA approved practical assessment to gain your Full Licence. 25-30 minutes of ride time but allow approximately 2 hours. Please e-mail or phone to arrange a convenient time.
